The University of Toronto’s Data Sciences Institute (DSI) connects industry leaders with top-tier data science, including AI/ML talent, fostering collaboration through industry engagement and student and trainee development opportunities. By partnering with DSI, your organization gains direct access to exceptional students and researchers, strengthening your presence in the next generation of data-driven talent.
We offer an annual core partnership that includes participation in the Talent Showcase and a curation session in the Industry Speaker Series:
Core Partnership – $15,000/year

Attend our annual Talent Showcase — a poster-style applied research showcase featuring DSI-affiliated trainees across disciplines. Unlike a traditional resume screening or interview, this immersive format lets your team engage directly with candidates, view their data science project work, ask questions, and assess both technical and communication skills in a live setting. Atendees include PhDs, postdocs, and undergraduate students from U of T, affiliated research institutes and the Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship program.
As a DSI Industry Member, you’ll receive:
Value: Early access to job-ready talent; personal connection beyond a CV; visibility across research networks; direct exposure to your brand; broad, cross-disciplinary view of applied data science talent in the University of Toronto ecosystem.

Engage in the Data Sciences Institute Industry Speaker series. Speak to DSI’s academic and student community and bring awareness to the types of data science challenges your company faces and how you’re solving them in practice. These sessions attract a wide interdisciplinary audience and foster two-way learning between industry and academia.
Value: Showcase thought leadership in your organization; recruit from a targeted audience; initiate dialogue with potential research collaborators and students.
Cost is dependent on the nature of the workshop
Partner with DSI to design and deliver customized workshops tailored to your organization’s learning needs. Led by expert faculty, these sessions are ideal for upskilling teams in areas like data visualization, AI/ML applications, and data-informed decision-making.
Workshops are typically delivered in a one-day or two half-day format and can be hosted at your office or virtually.
Value: Equip your team with hands-on skills and best practices from top academic experts; promote internal data literacy and innovation; reinforce your organization’s commitment to continuous learning.
Through DSI’s Summer Undergraduate Data Science (SUDS) program, your organization can engage a highly motivated undergraduate student in a full-time, 16-week data science internship from May-August.
SUDS interns work on meaningful projects and participate in data science skills bootcamps, networking and professional development activities as part of the SUDS Cohort Program. Interns showcase their project outcomes at the SUDS Showcase in mid-August, providing a platform for private sector companies to connect with emerging data science talent.
Value: Gain access to data-literate talent ready to contribute immediately; pilot innovative data projects; build long-term relationships with students and faculty.
SUDS Internships
Cost: $13,000/per intern
Mitacs Accelerate SUDS Internship
With dedicated funding from Mitacs, DSI works to support companies and organizations that can offer SUDS internships in the theme of Data-driven Decisions & Discovery: Innovation for Transformative Impact.
$25,000/year per trainee (3-year commitment)
Sponsor a DSI doctoral trainee through our annual funding competition.
DSI runs a university-wide call in the Fall for trainee awards. Partner-sponsored awards will be promoted as part of the call and can include a targeted research area.
Value: Build a relationship with high-performing talent early; increase visibility and impact; create a potential recruitment pipeline tied to work that directly aligns with Partner interests.
