SUDS Internship Opportunities

Through SUDS Industry Opportunities, undergraduate students, who are interested in exploring data science as a career path have an exciting opportunity to engage in an internship with a SUDS Industry Partner.

Student applications open in mid-December.

Highlights

  • Four months internship from May to August
  • All SUDS students participate in SUDS data science skills and professional development activities, and present their projects at the SUDS Showcase in August
  • SUDS Industry Partners are invited to present to DSI SUDS Scholars and DSI Fellows as part of the Data Science @ Work Series.

SUDS is an ideal way to get involved in a high-quality and enriching data science opportunity and to experience applications of data science methods and tools in a range of sectors.

The Data Sciences Institute is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous / Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.

How it Works

  • SUDS Internship Opportunities are developed in collaboration with SUDS Industry Partners that are focused on data sciences methodology applications in any applied area.
  • The approved list of Internship opportunity descriptions and employers is posted on the DSI website. Interested students apply and rank their top 3 choices.
  • The DSI office and a selection committee review and assess the student applications. Highly ranked applications are sent to the employer for consideration and identification of a SUDS Scholar for their internship opportunity.
  • The SUDS Industry Partner is the employer for the SUDS internship and provides a salary to the SUDS Scholar.
  • SUDS Scholars work on their internships and, in addition, the SUDS Scholar cohort across all opportunities are provided with a full set of data sciences skills and professional development and networking opportunities.
