SUDS Research Day 2023 – Information for Scholars

About

SUDS Research Day is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the exciting research that your fellow scholars are conducting. This year’s Research Day is set for August 10, 2023. We will be inviting student supervisors and faculty from across our DSI community for this in-person event.

Selected scholars will present their work and scholars will be invited to showcase their posters. We will have awards for the best presentation and the best poster. There will be a voting session for the Best Presentation and the Best Poster. In addition, scholar abstracts and presentations will be placed on the SUDS website after Research Day. Please note the information below

Abstracts

  • Abstracts must be reviewed by the supervisor prior to submission.
  • Maximum 350-word limit.
  • The abstract should include the purpose of the research; data science methods; any results and conclusions (or results expected by the time of presentation).
  • Abstracts must be submitted online – link will be available in early July.
  • Abstracts will be reviewed and selected scholars will have a chance to present their projects in the DSI SUDS Research Day (see below “Presentations”).

Presentations

  • Selected Scholars will present for up to 6 minutes, and there will be a short question period.
  • The presentation should highlight the topic of the research, data science methods, and any results or conclusions.
  • There will be faculty members and Scholars from a broad range of disciplines present, so the presentation should be understandable for a non-specialist audience.
  • There will be a poster section on the SUDS Research Day. All Scholars are invited to showcase their research with a poster.
