STAGE (Strategic Training in Advanced Genetic Epidemiology) is a Canada-wide training Fellowship for master’s and doctoral graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in molecular epidemiology and statistical -omics that brings together experts in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, computer science, AI, population health and other research areas.  

Through inter- and cross-disciplinary mentorship, formal coursework, and hands-on research, trainees develop skills in AI-driven genomic data science, advanced -omics methodologies, and rigorous data integration, data management, privacy, and security in order to accelerate three core training and research areas that are central to future breakthroughs in biomedical science:

• Artificial intelligence (AI) in genomics.
• Methods and analysis of new -omic technologies. 
• Methods and analysis of biobank-scale data, electronic medical records (EMR), and their integration with -omics. 

In addition, STAGE trainees receive an annual research allowance. The goal is to equip trainees with both technical depth and professional skills so they can translate complex genomic data into meaningful scientific and health insights within academia, healthcare, industry, and government.
